How to troubleshoot when the exhaust volume of the diesel screw air compressor is insufficient and the supply pressure is low?

Apr 15, 2026

In daily mining, tunneling or construction operations, when diesel screw air compressor machines experience "lack of power" or "insufficient air supply", this is often the most troublesome issue for the operators. This usually manifests as insufficient exhaust volume or low supply pressure.

As a professional manufacturer-Quzhou Zhongdu Machinery Technology Co., Ltd., we have compiled the following two core fault troubleshooting checklists to assist you in quickly identifying the problem and minimizing downtime losses.

I. Eight-Step Troubleshooting Method For Insufficient Exhaust Volume

1.The air demand is too high. Check whether the gas-using equipment and the compressor's exhaust capacity are compatible.

2. Check for high-pressure air leakage by inspecting the gas supply pipeline and valves to see if there is any leakage.

3. If the air filter is clogged, check if the instrument shows a maintenance signal and replace the filter element if necessary.

4. If the oil-gas separator filter element is clogged, replace the oil separator filter element, oil filter element and oil.

5. If the pressure regulating valve is out of adjustment or damaged, adjust the pressure regulator.

6. If the diesel engine speed is too low, adjust the speed or check the diesel engine fuel filter.

7. If the compressor rotor is worn, have the service personnel from Zhigao Company inspect it.

8. If the intake valve is not fully opened, check the control pipeline.

II. Rapid troubleshooting for insufficient gas supply pressure

1.The air demand is too high. Check whether the gas-using equipment and the compressor's exhaust capacity are compatible.

2. The air filter is clogged. Check if the instrument shows a maintenance signal. If necessary, replace the filter element.

3. High-pressure air leakage. Inspect the gas supply pipeline and valves to see if there is any leakage.

4. The pressure regulating valve is out of balance or damaged. Adjust or replace it (with spare parts available).

Summary of recommendations: Regular maintenance - especially timely replacement of air filters and oil-gas separator filter elements - is the key to preventing the aforementioned problems. In case of core component failures such as rotor wear, please contact a professional service team for handling. Do not attempt to disassemble it yourself. We hope this troubleshooting guide can help your equipment quickly return to its optimal working condition!
